Featured Franchise Owner – Miss Tara

Every month we like to highlight one of our terrific franchise owners to hear their story and how they got started. This month we’re speaking to Tara Cassmann, who owns her franchises in the Rochester Area, Minnesota & South Minnesota/Northern Iowa.

Where did you grow up and how did you come to be in Rochester?

I grew up on a farm outside of Lanesboro, MN.  After teaching elementary school in Iowa followed by working in the supplemental education business it was time for a change. My family relocated to Corpus Christi, TX where we found a super cute dance program for our toddler daughter.  We fell in love with the program and began speaking with Sarah who just happened to be based in Corpus Christi.  As a family, it was a perfect fit to bring Tippi Toes back to Minnesota with us.  Our first class was held in Rochester in September 2010!

How long have you had your TippiToes?

Seven years

Did you ever think you’d be a business owner?

Yes! Having run a multi-unit business in the past, I love the challenge of taking something from the ground level with zero customers and building a family around it.

What made you decide to choose this business?

The joy of the business. Watching our daughter fall in love with Tippi Toes during our time in Corpus Christi, TX. We knew we could positively impact a lot of lives with Tippi Toes while growing the business.

What advice do you have for other people starting out on this road?

Take the first step, trust yourself, never give up and don’t forget to laugh at yourself. I am not sure what other careers allow you to fly like a butterfly, make monkey noises, create your own schedule and be your own boss.

What is the best thing about being a business owner?

Knowing that I am making a positive impact on every family that walks into Tippi Toes. Pride of ownership.

What is the most challenging thing about being a business owner?

Knowing that every decision I make impacts my Tippi Toes families and business.

If you could go back in time what advice would you give yourself?

Trust what you believe in and the rest will fall into place. Laugh at yourself often and know that you will make mistakes along the way. You will learn from them and grow.
